Dildo's and strap-ons

Selecting a dildo

Once you are all set with the harness, the next consideration should be a dildo. Even though most harnesses come with a dildo that can fit in the o-ring just right, there are some that can help you to use your favourite dildos if you desire change. Here are some things to keep in mind when selecting a dildo to use with a strap-on:

- Always buy a dildo that has a flared base that's flat around the bottom. This flared base helps to keep your dildo in its place firmly. So when you are thrusting, the dildo doesn’t slip out and moves with your body not away from it.

- Some dildos have a straight shaft while some have a curved shaft. These curves can either point sideways, upwards or downwards. All these curved dildos work differently to provide you with different kinds of erotic stimulation. Once you get used to straight dildos you can move on to curved dildos.

- You can either have realistic dildos, soft dildos or hard plastic dildos based on your preference. The materials of dildos yield the firmness or softness to it. Different materials provide different stimulation. Jelly dildos are the highest selling models due to their flexibility.

Ready, steady, go

Once you have got your harness and dildo just right, take some time and breathe easy. Get used to the strap-on. Make yourself comfortable with the change and get into the right frame of mind that is required to get into the role.

- Don’t start thrusting hard and deep as soon as you get into the harness. Both you and your partner need to get used to it so don’t hurry into things. Just enter your partner and make sure he/she is comfortable. Give him/her some time to engulf the dildo that feels natural.

- Find a position that makes you both comfortable. Most couples find doggy-style most comfortable.

- The best benefit of using a strap-on is that even though you are using a dildo, your hands are free. This often not the case with sex toys. So make the most of your free hands and let them wander off to other places.

- Don’t use the same dildo for anal and vaginal or anal and oral or vaginal and oral sex. If you're switching places, switch to another dildo too.
